Treats for Dad

June 14, 2012 — , , , , , , , , , ,

What more could we do for the men in our children’s lives than to celebrate a day all about them? Celebrate it with homemade goodies and gifts! I compiled a “recipe” for a great Father’s Day that will make our children’s dads feel appreciated.

The Card: No Father’s Day is complete without a card, and a homemade one is the best kind your kids can give! When I saw this idea I immediately thought of Food City’s huge candy collection and HAD to do this! Time saver: Food City also sells cards if you don’t have time to make this. ;)

The Present—Part One: If your kids’ dad is anything like my husband, he spends most of his time outdoors with the kids or working at the office. This “Dad Rocks” paperweight ties both things into one by bringing some of the outdoors into the office, while serving as a reminder of how much your kids love their dad. Your kids will enjoy making it, too!

The Present—Part Two: Another way to make dad feel loved on his special day and beyond is by making a collage telling him why he’s loved! If you do this every year, you’ll eventually have a sweet memory of your kids at each year they are growing up, too.

The Dessert: Strawberries are in season, and your kids will want to help you make something delicious for dad, so Strawberry Icebox Cake it is! This delicious dessert requires no baking and is easy enough for your kids to help prepare. Food City has tons of perfect strawberries just waiting to be enjoyed on Father’s Day. :)
